You're Not My Type: A Letter to Writing

Listen, I know we had a rough start and if I could go back I would change a million things. I would have given more effort in my poetry class in 8th grade. My poems were filled with laziness and cliches and that’s unfair to you. I would have put more thought into my personal essays in high school.
But can you blame me? You don’t understand the pain and suffering you put me through when I was younger. The ELA exams were the bane of my existence and my teachers expected a 9 year old me to be able to write a full-blown essay? You ask for too much, I’m only human. So yeah, I was selfish and neglected you throughout my youth, I’m not proud of it but I do not regret it.
What you need to understand is that I’m a changed man, really. I’m ready to settle down and start a serious relationship. Research, poetry, personal, narratives, news you name it. I willing to give this a second shot. I know you feel it too, deep down you still have those feelings, it’s okay I do too. Don’t run away or try to hide them. Let’s enjoy our time in college and have fun! Who knows what can happen in this new class we have together, it seems so exciting. So many emotions are emerging I haven’t felt in years and I’m scared and excited.
Love,
Connor
